Admiral Cottage - Property description

“A wonderful suffolk holiday cottage in an idyllic setting for a very relaxing holiday.” Admiral Cottage is a typical Suffolk holiday cottage full of character and has many original features including exposed beams and stripped wood floors throughout. Admiral Cottage was completely refurbished & redecorated in 2007 and is furnished and equipped to a high standard.

Admiral Cottage Suffolk has 2 bedrooms (a double and a twin) which can accommodate 4 adults, with a sofa bed and cot also available. The other Suffolk Holiday Cottages offered by Snape Holiday Cottages in rural suffolk can be booked in conjunction with the Nelson Studio to accommodate 6 adults (plus sofa bed and cots).

This lovely, cosy cottage is situated close to the picturesque Suffolk coast in the small, quiet hamlet of Blaxhall. Adjoining Waterloo House, it enables you to truly "get away from it all”, but still have the convenience of Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh, Woodbridge and Southwold within easy driving distance. Bird watchers in particular will enjoy the local countryside and the close proximity to Minsmere and Orford Ness. With lots of good quality pubs & restaurants in the local vicinity - there are plenty of places to relax. Admiral Cottage is ideal for mid week breaks, quiet weekends, childhood adventures and couples getaways. Don't forget that your furry friends are also welcome to stay in Admiral Cottage as well..

The front door opens into a warm, inviting reception room with ample room for muddy boots, walking shoes & coats. This room is great for relaxing or playing one of the board games provided. It is also a brilliant spot to watch the sun rise or set across the surrounding countryside. A sofa bed suitable for an adult or child is available in this room.

From here, you walk through to the open plan kitchen/living area.

Sitting Room - Admiral Cottage Suffolk

The Admiral Cottage sitting room has a colour TV, DVD, video, CD player, radio and plenty of local information for you to peruse. The wide-ranging DVD library has something to cater for most tastes. The cottage has full central heating, 365 days a year with individually controlled time clock and thermostat, to suit your own requirements. This room is furnished to make you feel as relaxed as at home. The settees are the perfect place to relax, unwind and cuddle up in front of the log burner.

The Admiral Cottage Suffolk kitchen is well equipped and is fitted with an oven, microwave, electric hob, large fridge / freezer, dishwasher and washer / dryer. There is a full range of matching kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery to make cooking an easy and enjoyable part of your holiday. Cleaning materials, washing-up liquid and tea towels are also supplied.

From the kitchen, French doors open onto the Admiral Cottage enclosed private patio, which is ideal for eating out whenever it is sunny.

2 Bedrooms and Bathroom

The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. Admiral Cottage Suffolk is over 200 years old, and the stairs are steep, which unfortunately makes it unsuitable for the infirm.

The comfortable bedrooms are beautifully co-ordinated with quality furnishings, blinds and curtains as appropriate, bedside lights and crisp bed linen.

There is a large double bedroom and a second bedroom, which has twin beds. Both bedrooms have original oak beams and stripped floors. We pride ourselves on the comfortable new beds and have had a stream of visitors comment on how they realise they need to buy new beds when they return home.

A modern bathroom including a powerful shower and nice new towels completes the upstairs.

The cottage shares the large front garden with Waterloo House, which was the old village shop. There is lots of grass for the children to play on and the garden to the front overlooks turf fields.

Parking for one car is available at the front of the cottage. There is ample parking at the rear of the cottage for additional cars.

Children are welcome at any age. A travel cot, high chair and stair gate are all provided free of charge in the cottage (please bring your own cot linen).

Tourist information brochures, leaflets and guide books are provided in the cottage. There is also an information pack with instructions for all machines, information on local shops, pubs, restaurants and recreation providers, as well as the addresses of local doctors, dentists and hospitals.

Verbose directions
Go to Martlesham and follow signs to Woodbridge / Lowestoft on

Continue along A12 for 10 miles from Martlesham. On A12 you will come to a village called Marlesford – where you have to go at 40 miles an hour. This is the village before the one where you need to turn off.

Still on A12 you then come to a village called Little Glenham which is a 30 mile speed limit. Start to slow down as soon as you hit Little Glenham. On the right hand side there is a pub called the Lion Inn.

Almost immediately after the pub there is a signpost with Blaxhall.

Turn right down this road. (Church Road)

At the end of this road turn right again & continue over the Railway crossing.

Drive along this road for a few hundred metres. On your left you will pass a sign for a farm. About 10 metres from there is the right hand turn to our road. The turn is slightly hidden, and is just after a paddock which may or may not have horses & goats in it depending on the weather. The turn has a farmer giles big cut out with the farmer sitting in a white tractor, in front of a department store height of hay stacks. You will not see this though until you have slightly made the turn.

Travel along this road to a hamlet of houses.
